Following a midweek match in Richmond, Va., Fort Lauderdale CF will travel to face FC Tucson on the road this Saturday, Sept. 26 at 10:30 p.m. ET. The match at Kino North Complex will be the second meeting between the sides and will air live on ESPN+.

On Wednesday, Fort Lauderdale CF fell 2-1 to the Richmond Kickers in a closely contested affair. Ricky Lopez-Espin opened the scoring in the match, giving Fort Lauderdale a 0-1 lead and continuing to climb up USL League One’s goal scoring charts with his seventh goal of the season. He was assisted by Academy graduate Ian Fray, which marked the first assist of his professional career. Richmond, however, replied with two goals and claimed victory.

Fort Lauderdale previously faced FC Tucson in its second-ever match, hosting them at Inter Miami CF Stadium on July 25. In that match, Lopez-Espin scored the first goal in Fort Lauderdale CF’s history. After a pair of first-half red cards, however, Tucson was able to strike back with two late goals and claim a 1-2 victory.

Tucson currently sits fifth in the USL League One table, having compiled a record of four wins, two draws and five losses. The team has been led by forward Shak Adams, who has scored four goals this season, and midfielder Charlie Dennis, who has tallied four assists.

In 2019, FC Tucson finished eighth in the league’s ten team table, missing out of the playoffs. Overall, the team compiled a record of eight wins, nine draws and 11 losses.
