MLS Team of the Week Honors for Lowe and Callender

Inter Miami CF defender Damion Lowe and goalkeeper Drake Callender earned spots in the MLS Team of the Week for week 12 of the 2022 regular season.

Lowe, who received Team of the Week honors for the second time this season, earned his spot in the starting XI of the MLS Team of the Week after anchoring the defense and denying Philadelphia with two blocks, two key interceptions and a heroic goal line clearance.

Callender, meanwhile, made his first appearance in the MLS Team of the Week bench, following his Heineken Man of the Match performance against the Philadelphia Union. During the draw on the road against Philadelphia, Callender made an outstanding eight saves, six of which were from close range inside the box, earning him his first MLS clean sheet in confident fashion. Callender’s save in the fifth minute of the match received recognition in SportsCenter Top 10 plays coming in No. 4 on the list.

In its most recent home matches, Inter Miami topped the New England Revolution 3-2 on April 9, came from behind to defeat Atlanta United FC 2-1 on April 24, advanced to the Quarterfinals of the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup by winning 3-1 against USL League One side South Georgia Tormenta FC on May 10, and drew 2-2 against D.C. United on May 14. .

Inter Miami forward Leonardo Campana has been in fine form lately, with the Ecuadorian being the team's leading scorer thus far this season with six, while also registering two assists.

Additionally, Campana made history in Inter Miami's home match against D.C. United last weekend when he opened the scoring, as he set a club record by contributing to seven consecutive team goals in MLS play (5 goals, 2 assists).

The game may present a special reunion for Red Bull winger Lewis Morgan, who played for Inter Miami in 2020 and 2021. In all, during his stint at the club, Morgan registered 58 appearances, seven goals and 12 assists.
