Inter Miami CF captain Leo Messi and midfielder Casemiro have been named to the Major League Soccer Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for matchday 23 of the 2026 regular season. The duo earns TOTM honors after their standout roles in helping Inter Miami secure its historic 7-1 victory over CF Montréal on Saturday.
Messi features in the TOTM for a ninth time this regular season after his spectacular performance to help Inter Miami achieve its largest margin of victory in Club history, with the Argentine maestro scoring four goals and dishing out an assist. Messi’s stellar evening began with two goals in the opening 45 minutes.
Messi then carried on his world class performance with three more goal contributions in the final stretch of the match. Our captain assisted Luis Suárez in the 80th minute, followed by finding the back of the net with a tidy chip in the 83rd minute and with a free kick banger in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Messi has now tallied 18 goals in 19 appearances this regular season as he leads the race for the MLS Golden Boot, while also contributing a notable 10 assists.
Casemiro, meanwhile, features on the TOTM for the first time after what was just his sixth MLS appearance. The Brazilian international got things started for Inter Miami in the match with his first goal in our Club colors, opening the scoring with a header in the 20th to capitalize on a corner kick delivery from Telasco Segovia.
