On the afternoon of Friday, April 10, Inter Miami hosted a Q&A with Argentinian center back Nicolás Figal on the Club’s Instagram account, providing fans with a unique opportunity to interact with and get to know the 26-year-old footballer a little better.

Question:
Who is your idol?
Figal’s answer:
“Well, how I’ve mentioned on several occasions, my idol since I was a kid is Real Madrid’s center back Sergio Ramos.”
Question:
What motivated you to go to Inter Miami?
Figal’s answer:
“What motivated me to come to Inter Miami is the project and how much it’s grown. Also, both the administration and the coaching staff insisted that I come here, which is very important for a player. I also have several friends who play in MLS that are enjoying it and said some very good things about the league. On top of that, you have the figure of David [Beckham], who is very important for us. So, that was what motivated me to come to Inter Miami.”
Question:
What is your main goat at the Club?
Figal’s answer:
“The main goal I have this year is as a group. I always prioritize the group over the individual. If the team is doing good, then I’m doing good. So, the goals we have in mind are qualifying for the playoffs, starring in the competition and, why not, become the champions. I believe that we have a good team to do so.”
Question:
What advice do you have for young players that want to be professionals one day?
Figal’s answer:
“The first thing that comes to mind is to never give up. Because there will surely be difficult moments, like leaving your family at a young age, injuries or not playing. Those situations are very normal, they’ve happened to me. I always had my mind focused on what I wanted, which was playing in the first division, and luckily, I was able to do it. So, I tell them to never stop dreaming and to never give up.”

Who was your favorite player growing up?
Figal’s answer:
“Ronaldinho.”

How was your first talk with David Beckham?
Figal’s answer:
“Well, the first time that I talked with David [Beckham] was in a group dinner where all of the players in the team went to eat with him. The truth is that it was incredible because, well, we all know what he represents for the world of football, for all the players our age. When I got done talking with him, I took a picture with him and uploaded it to social media with the caption ‘in video games as a kid, in reality as an adult’ because it came from the heart.”

What’s your favorite place in Miami?
Figal’s answer:
“Well, the truth is that I have been in Miami for a very short period of time, I’m sure that there are many beautiful places here that I don’t know yet. But, based on tv-series and movies I’ll go with Ocean Drive, its a place that I like a lot, one I like to go visit”.
Question:
What are you doing during the quarantine?
Figal’s answer:
“I’m spending the quarantine just like everyone else, trying to occupy the free time. Now I’m doing things that I might have not done at another time. Training is also a bit difficult, but it’s our responsibility and obligation so that we can be fit when the season returns. I watch movies, play games, train, clean the house. In general, I try to have a good time.”
Question:
How is the atmosphere in the dressing room?
Figal’s answer:
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is great. There’s a lot of unity. It’s a great group of guys that is very motivated. We all want to make history for Inter Miami because, at the end of the day, we are meant for great things. We all have our individual goals, but at the end of the day, we are a team. The truth is that it is a very healthy atmosphere.”
