Ten Things to Know About Inter Miami CF’s 2022 Schedule

It’s finally arrived, the 2022 Major League Soccer (MLS) regular season schedule is here!

Inter Miami CF unveiled the team’s full 34-game regular season schedule last week, giving fans a glimpse of an exciting campaign coming up. Here we break down ten things you need to know about the regular season slate for the club’s third season in MLS.

1. More Weekend Fútbol

The 2022 home schedule boasts 11 Saturday matches, four Sunday fixtures and only two contests on weekdays, giving the club’s loyal fans more Inter Miami fútbol on the weekends! Overall, 14 of the team’s weekend fixtures in 2022 will be home matches at DRV PNK Stadium, with Inter Miami fans having plenty of opportunities to see South Florida’s MLS team in action next year.

2. New Signings

The Inter Miami CF Technical Staff has been hard at work this offseason and recently made a game-changing signing ahead of the 2022 season in Brazilian midfielder from Santos FC, Jean Mota. The club also signed Costa Rican international attacker Ariel Lassiter and versatile midfielder/defender Mo Adams and acquired over $1 million in allocation money to add more strength to the roster in advance of hitting the pitch in February. 3. Opening and Closing the Season in South Florida

Following the 2021 season opener against the LA Galaxy at DRV PNK Stadium, Inter Miami will once again open the season at home, taking on the Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, Feb. 26. Additionally, after closing out the team’s second MLS season last month on the road, with an impressive 1-0 victory over the 2021 Supporters’ Shield winners, the New England Revolution, Inter Miami will have the opportunity to play in front of The Heartbeat of the club, our fans, for MLS Decision Day in 2022. Inter Miami will play its final 2022 regular season fixture when its hosts CF Montréal on Sunday, Oct. 9.

4. First Visits to DRV PNK Stadium

This campaign will see the club welcome LAFC, the Portland Timbers, and Minnesota United FC to DRV PNK Stadium for the first time-ever. The Los Angeles-based side is set to visit South Florida on March 12, the Timbers on May 28 and Minnesota on June 25.

5. Battling Reigning MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield Title Holders

Inter Miami will take on both the reigning MLS Cup champions, New York CIty FC, and Supporters’s Shield title holders, the New England Revolution, in the 2022 regular season. The club will be hosting the Revs at DRV PNK Stadium on April 9 and will then visit Gillette Stadium on April 30. On the other hand, Inter Miami will hit the road to face NYCFC at Yankee Stadium on July 23 before welcoming them to South Florida on August 13.

6. New Chapters in Florida’s Rivalry

Having faced the club’s fierce cross-state opponents Orlando City SC seven times during Inter Miami’s first two seasons, the sides will battle it out on the pitch twice more this campaign. The matches are set to be played at Exploria Stadium on July 7 during Heineken Rivalry Week and at DRV PNK Stadium on September 4.

7. Fresh Foes on the Docket

MLS’s 27th campaign will see Charlotte FC become the League’s 28th club, with Inter Miami traveling to North Carolina to take on the newest MLS team on May 7. The sides will then meet again in South Florida on July 16. Inter Miami will also face Austin FC, Minnesota United, Seattle Sounders FC and San Jose Earthquakes for the first time in club history during the 2022 season.

8. Long-distance Travelers

Inter Miami’s first match in history against the Seattle Sounders on April 16 will see the First Team players and Technical Staff embark on their longest trip with the club to date, traveling over 3,000 miles from Fort Lauderdale to Seattle.

9. Taking on the West

Inter Miami will take on eight different Western Conference rivals once in the 2022 regular season, with the remaining 26 fixtures coming against fellow Eastern Conference sides. In 2022, the team will be facing Austin FC, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LAFC, Minnesota United FC, Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders from the Western Conference.

10. Seven Fixtures on National TV

Seven matches to be nationally televised standout in Inter Miami’s schedule - three on ESPN, one on ESPN2, one on FS1, one on Univision and one on UniMás. ESPN will broadcast the first match between the sides when Inter Miami visits Austin FC on March 6, New England’s second visit to South Florida on April 9 and the fourth matchup against Atlanta United at DRV PNK Stadium on April 24. Meanwhile, ESPN2 will broadcast the road game in Atlanta on June 19, FS1 will broadcast the club’s first match against the Seattle Sounders on April 16, Univision will televise LAFC’s first visit to DRV PNK Stadium on March 12 and UniMás will broadcast Inter Miami’s meeting against the League’s newest franchise Charlotte FC when the team visits Bank of America Stadium on May 7.
