“They say he's good, let's see what he's got” - Pizarro on eFriendly vs. Jiménez

Rodolfo Pizarro Training 5.21.20

Two Mexican national team stars will face off in an international eFriendly this Saturday, May 23, when Inter Miami Designated Player Rodolfo Pizarro faces English Premier League and Wolves star Raúl Jiménez in a series of EA SPORTS FIFA 20 matches.

Pizarro isn’t shy about the matchup, boasting a successful record in virtual competition to this point and the confidence that makes him so successful.

“I'm happy, I'm excited to play against him and beat him,” he said with a grin. “They say he's good, let's see what he's got.”

Pizarro previously won Inter Miami’s FIFA 20 tournament as part of Twitch’s Stream Aid 2020, a virtual event that raised over $2.7 million for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The midfielder also represented Mexico in the FIFA eNations Stay and Play Cup on April 24, defeating Peru and Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Yordi Reyna, 2-1.

“I have experience and I've already played several games, one with the national team and the other here with the Club. I did pretty well so I hope to beat [Jiménez].”

The El Tri teammates have a history both as competitors and teammates, facing off against each other four times in their club careers and teaming up for the national team together 12 times. Throughout that time, the two have forged a jovial relationship.

“I think that with Raúl the best moment, or of the ones I've lived with him, was in the 2019 Gold Cup that we were champions. We have a good relationship, a relationship where we both like to play, we both like to joke. I think it's the Gold Cup where we both did very well, so I think that's where we best got along so far.”

“I invite you all to watch my game against Raúl Jiménez. It's going to be very good, it's going to be entertaining and hopefully you'll enjoy it a lot and get to break out of your routine a little bit and have fun,” he said to fans. “See you then.”
