Inter Miami will be back in action at home at Inter Miami CF Stadium hosting Atlanta United FC on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. ET, exactly one week after claiming a historic first point on the road and securing the team’s first clean sheet against the Georgia-based side. Ahead of the second head to head of the season against Atlanta, manager Diego Alonso is confident that the team has considerably improved game after game while also touching upon what the team needs to do in order to achieve the results it desires.

"It's evident that we're playing better each match. The results aren't always accompanying the performances which sometimes gives the feeling that we're doing things poorly, but the team has improved a lot and is doing really great things,” he said.

“We’ve created many chances lately, but not being lethal when finishing has affected us throughout the matches we’ve played. It’s something we need to emphasize and that we need to be working on, because we generate many more chances than the goals we score,” added Alonso.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami attacker Juan Agudelo and defender Ben Sweat shared their manager’s views, admitting that there are areas that need some work, but focusing on the positive aspects of the team’s performances so far.

“As an experienced player you see these things happen with other teams, and once you get the first or the second goal, then the floodgates really start to open. I think what is encouraging is that we’re creating these opportunities. I think getting shots on target no matter where they are from will give us a better opportunity to open the floodgates,” stated Agudelo.

“I think we trained hard enough before the second half of the season started up and we’ve played enough matches that we’re starting to find that form and we’re starting to get a better understanding of what we want defensively and offensively,” concluded Sweat.
