DIego Alonso on Matuidi signing

Inter Miami officially unveiled today World Cup-winning French international Blaise Matuidi as the newest addition to our team’s roster. The midfielder will provide our midfield unit with his experience and an extensive repertoire of qualities to take on the rest of the Club’s historic inaugural season.

Manager Diego Alonso is delighted with adding the versatile and accomplished midfielder, who won a plethora of titles while previously playing for top teams in European fútbol such as French giants Paris Saint-Germain and prestigious Italian side Juventus FC, to Inter Miami’s squad.

“I’m very happy that he’s joining us. He’s undoubtedly a player of a very high caliber. We were monitoring him for a while and luckily we were able to close the deal,” said the two-time Concacaf Champions League-winning coach.

Additionally, Alonso went into detail about the role the incoming 33-year-old Frenchman will serve both on and off the pitch for our team.

“He will surely provide us with all of his quality on the pitch. He’s a very dynamic player. It’s something we’ve been on the lookout for. A player that can help the team be more dynamic, that contributes quality in midfield and who can help us make a jump forward,” he highlighted.

“He’s a versatile player who can play in several positions, be it centrally or out wide in midfield, and he’s even played as a full-back for Juventus. That speaks to his ability. We are very happy with what he can provide for us on the pitch. Off the field, all the reports we received are exceptional. He’s a great guy, a great professional that will help us improve.”

Lastly, the Uruguayan tactician concluded by emphasizing another display of the ambition the team has of achieving big things in MLS.

“Bringing in a World Cup-winning player that was playing for Juventus and still has a lot of good football to give shows the Club’s ambition, the ambition of each one of us that are a part of this organization,” added the Uruguayan tactician. “We want winning players, players with a great present and that can help us build a great future so that we can compete against the best teams in MLS.”
