Career Summary

Finnish international Robert Taylor joined Inter Miami CF ahead of the 2022 campaign, providing a versatile option in the offensive third for Phil Neville’s men. Playing in a variety of positions such as midfielder, winger, and wing-back, Taylor’s flair for creativity and bursts of genius and pace led to many thrilling moments in front of La Familia in his first season in MLS. In his first season with the Club, Taylor was instrumental in the team clinching its second playoff spot, making 34 appearances, 27 as a starter, and registering three goals and three assists. Notably, Taylor provided a moment of magic, scoring the goal that sparked a thrilling come-from-behind victory against Charlotte FC at DRV PNK Stadium on July 16. 

In his youth, Taylor played as youth for teams such as JJK, Nottingham Forest and Barnet, before making his professional debut and playing for teams such as RoPS, Tromsø and Brann prior joining the Herons. 

On the international arena, Taylor has featured consistently for the Finnish national team, representing his country at the U-17, U-19, U-20 and U-21 categories before making his debut for the senior team in Jan. 2017. He has played more than 20 times for his country to date, netting once and registering two assists, including competing in UEFA World Cup qualifying, UEFA European Championship qualifying, and UEFA Nations League matches, scoring one goal and tallying two assists. Taylor was also a member of Finland’s historic UEFA European Championship 2020 squad in 2021, as the team qualified for the continental competition for the first time.
